Create your
own natural stream in your garden without concrete or artificial rocks.
Not a water
feature, an eco system and an irrigation solution.
Attracts birds
and other wildlife.
Creates a
quiet place in your garden with the natural sound of running water.
Welcome to Garden Stream Workshops - the half day course that will
enable you to create your own natural running stream in your garden.
Because no concrete is used, plants can grow in the stream bed and along the banks. The stream bed encourages
natural seed dispersion. At the beginning of your second growing season
you will have a profusely lush garden surrounding your stream.
Not a water feature, an eco system.

The
proximity of water and indigenous water plants encourages
insects which in turn attracts birds and other
wildlife. The constant recirculation of the water allows
you to grow plants that love water but is not wasteful. In fact,
this method of irrigation uses only a half bath of
water daily, assuming a stream length of eight meters (less in
winter)
Unlike an artificial rock water feature, the length of your stream is not limited. Any length between two
and twenty meters is possible. If you have a smallish town house
you can irrigate your entire garden using the stream.
The cost of an eight meter natural stream is between
R3500 and R4500. This design is best done in stages and
therefore this amount can be spread over a number of months thus making the stream quite affordable. This
figure includes a liner, clay, pump, filter,
reservoir, piping, valves, timing switch and electrical
installation. Plants, labour, rocks, stones and pavers
are not included. Bigger is not significantly
more expensive and smaller, you can halve this amount.
The
cost of this half day course is R550-00 per person and can
potentially save you from a number of expensive pitfalls.
